When you’re ready for Taco Tuesday, you don’t need to be held back by not having one of those pesky lil spice packets. Make your own homemade taco seasoning mix to keep in the cabinet whenever you need it. Better yet, make a ton of it because then you can batch cook meat for the freezer & always only ever be 2 snaps away from Mexico.

Homemade Taco Seasoning Blend
Equipment
- 1 4-ounce jar
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- 1.5 Tbsp cumin
- 1 Tbsp onion powder
- 5 tsp smoked paprika
- 2.5 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
- ¼ tsp oregano
Instructions
- Mix all the spices til well combined in a small bowl.
- Use a funnel (or piece of rolled paper) to transfer to a clean & dry jar.
- Store in cool, dark place up to 6 months.
- To use: Add 1 tbsp per pound of meat/veg to start, adding more as desired after tasting.
Notes
- Vary the heat level for sensitive heat palates by decreasing the chili powder (by half to start) & omitting the cayenne pepper. As written, there’s a slight kick to this homemade taco seasoning. Also keep in mind the more you use per pound, the spicier it will be.
